Deborah is both a practicing artist and an art educator with over 30 years of experience.
Her love of clay, as an artist's medium, began in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia where she discovered this rich, red natural resource in her own back yard. She received her BFA degree in studio art from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and an M. Ed. from Antioch New England University in Keene, NH.
During a year of post-graduate studies at B.U., a work study job at a local community arts center provided her first teaching experience and inspired her interest in sharing her passions with others. She has taught in wide variety of venues and, in addition to her work at Parker Academy, teaches at the New Hampshire Institute of Art and in the Plymouth State University School of Graduate Studies.
Outside of school, Deborah enjoys hiking, reading, tending a yoga practice and traveling to the west coast as often as possible to be with her two daughters, son-in-law and grandson.
She believes wholeheartedly that art enriches all of our lives and that the seeds of observation and attention planted while making art provide hope and an appreciation of beauty for all involved. |
