Precalculus integrates concepts from algebra and geometry. The families of functions to be studied will include polynomial, absolute value, inverse, rational, radical, trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Problem situations involving direct and indirect variation will be solved. Problems resulting in systems of equations will be solved graphically and algebraically. Algebraic techniques will be developed to facilitate rewriting mathematical expressions into multiple equivalent forms. Other topics may include complex numbers, polar coordinates, vectors, sequences and series. Technology and specifically use of a graphing calculator will enable students to visualize, verify and explore models they have already graphed or manipulated by hand and explore real life data applications. Online study guides as well as practice worksheets will be provided. Go back to Mathematics & Science page
