Parker Academy

Geopolitics provides students with an understanding of the geography, cultures and political systems of the modern world. One half of the school year focuses on American government and civics. A significant portion of the course will be devoted to practical/real time engagement in the political process. Students will research current candidates, learn their positions on relevant issues, and are encouraged to volunteer for a political party or candidate of their choice.

In this course, students will gain the background they need for subsequent Social Studies courses, including U.S. and World History. In addition, Geopolitics will help students to master the skills necessary to be a successful student: research, real world application of that research, organization, note taking, and writing. A course requirement is the successful completion of a research project.
