Algebra I is designed to review the arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, in addition to learning new operations and Algebraic Properties such as exponents and the distributive property. Through incremental processes of review and introduction, students will learn how to apply these operations on variables while exploring the use and need for variables as unknowns in their everyday life. Students learn the order of operations and how to solve for unknown variables using the process of inverse operations. Other topics studied include 2-variable equations and formulas, linear equations and modeling and systems of linear equations and inequalities. Go back to Mathematics & Science page
